The Dr. Glenn Gourmet Burger
Forget about white buns and American cheese. The next time you're making burgers, try this:
If you're making the oven fries, start them first. The Cascadian Farms brand is low in fat, free of crap, and delicious. After the fries are in the oven, make 4-ounce patties with the beef. Pre-heat your grill to medium, wait a few minutes and put the burgers on. The key to a perfectly grilled burger is medium heat and frequent flipping. If you have ADD, set a timer every 3 minutes. While the burgers are cooking, work on the following: Slice the pepper jack cheese. Slice the tomatoes at the same time. Warm the English muffins in the toaster or on the top rack of the grill. Wash the lettuce, slice the apple or strawberries, throw in salad bowls. Add a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing. Wash and steam your asparagus. Or cook it in the microwave. Just as the burgers are almost perfectly cooked (If you don't know how to tell how well a burger is cooked, get the book "How To Cook Everything") add the sliced Pepper Jack cheese. Give the cheese a couple of minutes to melt, and take the burgers off of the grill. Pop a burger onto an English Muffin half and put a tomato slice on top. Can be served open or closed face. For an extra bit of zing try a little horseradish sauce. Serve it all up at the same time and enjoy. Note: If you're going gluten-free, skip the muffin and eat with a knife and fork. The fries, salad and asparagus are all gluten free. |
